“I am a big believer in the adage of hiring people who are better than yourself. Leaders should lead and let specialists be what they are; specialists. As SVP it’s my responsibility to set a direction, but it’s all carried out by people much more specialized than me.

I have seen examples of organizations where exceptional engineers are elevated into leadership and people management – Which does not always turn out great. Great specialists risk a transition into mediocre leaders. That is a lose-lose situation.”

Here, it’s all about trust and acting our CORE values. The pioneering spirit and agility of our organization is something special. Accountability is part of our DNA. Everyone contributes. Everyone plays a vital part and if anyone spots room for improvement, they speak up.

The way I see it, one of our finest tasks is to help bring down costs for our customers. Essentially, our mission is to help create an industry that will thrive, even without subsidies. We need to be at the forefront in terms of skills, spirit, and technology to fully understand our customers’ needs. At Danhydra, we have the right setup to help support our customers and be their trusted partner across the tool lifecycle.

Still room for improvement in the industry

On a personal level, I’m proud to be a part of the wind industry and to come from a country that has really helped pioneer wind energy globally. In the 80’s, wind energy was viewed as a pet project brought forth by visionary enthusiasts, and now it’s one of the best answers to solve the climate crisis. However, I would have hoped that we would have come further than we have by this point.

The wind industry is still young and somewhat immature. Historically, a sector needs about 30 years to mature, and maybe wind will need a little more. But with recent breakthroughs in technology, the process is accelerating and we’re getting closer and closer. It all helps bring down the cost of energy and in return, raise the incentive to roll-out even more wind farms across the world.
